Finding Help in times of need -Part 11

Employ the virtues of Tenacity.

Have you been in a seemingly unpleasant situation for a while? You may have thought; ‘it will soon be over’, but that has not been the case for some time. You were wrong. You have tried and kept trying, but you are not where you desire to be? It seems to be working for others, but yours seems to be different? Are you at the verge of giving up? Have you decided to stop trying? I can relate with your experience.

The story of everyone is different. There are as many challenges to human life as there are humans. One may seem easy and another difficult. One may be over in minutes or days while some others may linger on for months or years. We only often wonder why it takes longer, while it seems it takes a shorter time for others. It depends on your needs and what you want to achieve. There could be so many things that could contribute to this, and I would attempt to share one with you.

A tomato seed can begin producing fruits after about 50 days of planting, with an average lifespan of 6 months. It is not so with blackberry, which may take up to 2 years, but can live up to 15 years. The apple or pear tree is also different. They do not have fruits until the 4th or 5th year of planting, but it can live for 100 years or more.

It depends on what you need. If you need a tomato, it may be easier to get, but quick to disappear within a short time. If it is a blackberry it might take slightly longer, but then it give you over a decade of fruits. If yours is an apple, it will take longer, so you have to wait for long at the early years, but afterwards you and others enjoy fruits every season for a century or more.

Every plant is different, and they also vary in the time it takes to begin fruit-bearing. The same way, the need of everyone differs. It all depends on what each one desires to achieve. One may hope to fulfil a temporary enjoyment, while another could think of something that can endure for many generations.

You cannot change the nature of the plant; you can only change your desire for it. If you cannot wait for the apple, you can opt for tomatoes. If you insist on apple, encourage yourself to persevere and wait for it. Sometimes, many people desire apple fruits but never realise how long it takes to bear fruit. They look around seeing tomatoes and wondering; ‘Why is my apple not bearing fruit, while many tomatoes have good yields?’ It is not yet time for the apple to bear fruit, you need to keep working on it, and the fruit will appear at the right time.

A student learns for over 14years in the tertiary institution to become a specialist in a particular area of medicine. Another may study for 7years to specialise in a specific type of law. There are so many other courses that will not take that long, but it will not lead to medicine or law. All you need for your journey to become a specialist medical professional is to persevere through those years, seeking all necessary assistance till you achieve your goal. The time will come when you will eat the fruits produced every season, for many years to come.

It is vital to understand your goal and seek help accordingly. You may have found that not everybody will appreciate it. It becomes more challenging, when it is not producing fruits like others they see around. There is help, but you need to seek them carefully throughout your journey to achieve your goal.

You may have chosen to raise a family. It comes with challenges and many needs. It may seem that you are behind in some things, but you are investing in a future. You are contributing your quota to the success of the next generation. You may have to deny yourself of somethings or always looking for someone to help you with one thing or the other. You cannot make it faster, but you can get help on your journey to achieve your goals.

Some people desire to start a business which may be a good goal. It involves a lot of work and investment of time to make it successful. Some have had to deprive themselves of pleasure and comfort to make their business a success. They have needs, but they understand why, and they are willing to persevere to realise their goal. It is a season. If you are doing what is required, you will soon see your fruits in the harvest season.

I know of some people that left their salaried jobs to start up their own business. They expected success so early, but they never realised all that was required. It requires more than what they put into their former jobs. They now need to look for clients, manage the business, pay for employees, pay for utilities, pay for other expenses, and so on. They can only think of profit after paying all the bills.

Do you have a goal and it seems it is taking forever? Try to understand it and seek help as required to know what it takes to get there. Please do not give up on your goal because of the time it will take. Learn to persevere and seek help on your journey so that you can achieve it.

You may have chosen a more challenging path. You must understand the intricacies of your choice. Be willing to pay the price for what you desire. It may not be as easy as others, but it could be that the fruit will be worthwhile compared to others. The tree may endure for many generations.

Are you at the verge of giving up? Do you seem to be behind when others are progressing? It may be that you have different destinations. It could be that you are growing different trees. When you are enjoying your fruits, they may need to begin another round of planting all over again. Do not give up! You may be the hope for the next generation.
