The earlier, the better.
Do you have needs that have grown worse with time? Have you ignored your needs and discovered that they now constitute a threat to your life? Have you ever had a need but sought help too late?
It is often true that when you solve a problem early, it is likely to cost less and reduces the chances of getting worse. Early help may save the situation. There are times we lose the opportunity for a recovery when we delay.
There are so many reasons for such hesitation, some of which are; trivialising the issue, a false feeling of things are under control, nonchalance, ignorance, misplaced priority, fear, lack of resources, among others. It is crucial to seek help on time. You have higher chances of remedy than waiting till later. The later you leave it, the more dangerous the situation and more challenging the solution.
An employee that is receiving frequent warnings for poor performance should not ignore them. It will become worse if ignored, and eventually may lead to the loss of the job. Seeking early assistance may help to either improve in the same role, or if that is not feasible, to find a better solution that could bring fulfilment as soon as possible.
Many people see signs of a cracking wall in their organisation. It could be the signs of redundancy, because of the loss of a significant customer, policy changes, changes in government, competition and so on. They could be pointers to the fact that something is about to happen. It may not occur in some cases, but seeking help on time gives time to prepare ahead and to avoid sudden disaster.
Imagine employees that spend more money than they earn. It could be a warning light that there is a problem. They might be able to return to a good position with good and early financial counsel. They may also choose to ignore the warning signals, and continue borrowing. It may lead to more hardship. They may be accumulating debts that they may never be able to pay. A small amount of loan with high-interest rates may provide temporary relief but could lead to unpleasant situations in future, with debts that they cannot pay off. Many have become bankrupt doing something similar.
A student may be struggling with tests and assessments. That is the best time to get help. The situation may be redeemable. The signs, if ignored, hoping everything will be fine, may make things worse. The student, may fail, be advised to withdraw or repeat the class. It becomes more complicated and more stressful.
A toe injury may look small and may not seem dangerous. If not treated properly, it could lead to infections and in worse cases, the amputation of the foot. The problem can get worse if not treated on time. The help needed increases as the conditions get worse. A first aider or a nurse may be the help required within a short period of the incident happening. The more time spent doing nothing may cause more harm. It may become critical, in which case a doctor or a Specialist medical professional, may be needed to help if it has gone worse. When the foot becomes infected, in some cases the only help would be to amputate the leg. The patient has benefited from lots of assistance but left with more losses. Less received on time could have retained more value. The earlier, the better.
It is like driving a car with signs of a faulty braking system. The driver could decide to seek help as soon as possible. A mechanic is all that is needed to resolve the problem. If ignored or postponed, the signs and condition will get worse. It is an accident going somewhere to happen. It is a question of when not if. The more time that elapses without seeking help, the more the risks of injury and damage. It could lead to an accident affecting other people as well. The assistance required is now more, probably specialist doctors for the people involved, but if there is a fatality, that is a price too costly. The car will always need more help for repairs which would be more expensive to fix than the initial problem. It is better sooner than later.
There are a lot of people suffering from the effect of delayed responses to their needs in life. The initial problem has grown to become challenging and complicated because it has expanded over time without seeking help. It now looks like an irredeemable situation. You may need more help, but it may probably be a recoverable situation. There is still hope if you have found yourself in such circumstances. You need to act now without further delay.
To be continued next week, don’t miss it.
